Town Government Educational Programs
The Fountain Hills Cultural and Civic Association strives to keep Fountain Hills citizens informed about the
Town Government and associated functions. It has either sponsored or cosponsored five Town Hall events
over the years.  Most recently we cosponsored a Youth Visioning Institute and two Town Hall events in
conjunction with the Town of Fountain Hills Citizen Driven Strategic Planning effort. In addition we help to
register 18 year old voters in conjunction with the high school. The Civic Affairs chairman serves on the
Technical Advisory Committee that is leading and coordinating the strategic planning effort.  In the past five
years we conducted two educational forums known as “Our Town”.  These forums were led by the Mayor
and Town Manager as well as key town staff heads of Parks and Recreation, Public Works, Planning and
Zoning, Town Finances, Municipal Court, Fire Department and Law Enforcement.  Representatives from the
Sanitary District and Chaparral City Water also participated.
                                                               Candidate Forums
Before every Town Council election, the Fountain Hills Cultural and Civic Association sponsors the following
in order to inform the citizenry on each candidate:
                                                       Meet the Candidate Nights
This event is held several weeks prior to the election. It is open to all town citizens and gives candidates
an opportunity to introduce themselves and outline their views and positions on Town issues.  This event
is held at the Community Center.
                                                             Candidate Debates
This event is held within two weeks of the election and is open to all town citizens.  Each candidate has
the opportunity to answer questions from those submitted to them prior to the event, and from the
audience. They also have the opportunity to answer or rebut, as appropriate, issues raised by other
candidates.  It is also held at the Community Center.
Town Hall
Fountain Hills Mentor Program
This program, although not a part of the Cultural and Civic Association, is a wonderful volunteer
opportunity to make a difference in the life of a child by becoming a mentor. Click

Civic Affairs
Town Hall 2 was a key event in our year-long citizen-driven strategic planning process. Nearly 200
residents participated in the session held on August 13, to determine which key principles and initiatives
would guide the growth and development of Fountain Hills. The construction of a multi-generational
aquatic facility and strengthening the community's small town identity were among the initiatives many
participants wanted to pursue in the first implementation phase (1- 3 years).
