Fountain Hills Community Band
Begins Fourth Season
Rehearsals begin Tues. Nov. 6 at the Middle School at 7:00 PM with the
band’s new conductor, Ed Madden. An active schedule for the upcoming
season has been planned with a rich new and varied musical repertoire and
an exciting concert schedule which will conclude with a combined band and
Community Chorus extravaganza in the spring.
Madden states,” Our FH’s Band, along with hundreds of others in the
country offers adults and advanced students a truly worthwhile activity as a
continuance of instrumental skills once learned, enjoyed and then often
neglected after their education as they go on to their various career choices.
Playing with the band offers members to make friends with people from all
walks of life who come together, first to make music but also to fully
participate in this community treasure; like our community chorus, our own
The medium of the Concert Band since its inception in the nineteenth
century has been primarily devoted to entertainment. Most people go to a
band concert to be entertained. Before radio and recordings, along with its
other traditional functions, it was also great popularizer of classical music.”
Folks who play or have played band instruments and can perform at a solid
high school level of musical ability are encouraged to join the band. There
are openings in all instrument sections.
